The best place to railfan in the Stevenson area is at the old
depot museum located at the corners of AL-117 and West
Main Street.

The depot is at the junction of Norfolk Southerns busy
Memphis to Chattanooga main line and CSX'S busy Nashville
to Chattanooga line and from here both railroads share the
same mainline until just outside Chattanooga where CSX
splits back off and follows the Tennessee River past
Lookout Mountain while Norfolk Southern passes through
the Lookout Mountain tunnel.

Stevenson is easily accessed from US 72 and AL 117 and is
located approximately 60 miles east of Huntsville, AL,
23 miles east of Scottsboro, AL, and approximately 45 miles
west of Chattanooga, TN.
